Fairly entertaining, popcorn Actioner. Travolta and Meyers have easy chemistry together.

(Credit IMDb) James Reece is an ambitious aide to the U.S. Ambassador
in Paris, doing little jobs for the CIA and hoping to get into black
ops. On the night he and his girlfriend, Caroline, become engaged, he's
told to pick up Charlie Wax at Orly. Charlie is an unorthodox
government employee – large, bald and bearded, foul-mouthed and
eccentric. Charlie immediately takes James on a wild ride of murder and
mayhem, through ethnic enclaves. As bodies pile up, the purpose remains
opaque to James. Caroline, unhappy that James has been out of touch for
a day, tells him to bring Charlie for dinner. Charlie can be charming -
where will it lead? Does the chess-playing James have what it takes?

From Paris with Love won't win an originality award, but it's certainly
a fun way to pass the time, I'll say that much. Meyers and Travolta
make the movie a fairly entertaining ride due there easy flowing
chemistry with one another, and there banter was a treat to watch. I
have seen the story countless times before, but I enjoyed it, and
that's all that counts for me. Some complained Travolta's character was
far too violent, but I got a hoot out of it. I love it when he goes
nuts, and this was no different. The great action scenes, and solid
performances make this one more enjoyable then it should be, because it
suffers from a lack of originality a lot of the time.

Performances. John Travolta goes all out here, and the film is better
for it. His charisma is off the charts, and I cracked up many a time
watching him doing what he did. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is very solid as
the rookie, and had a great English essence about him. He's very
talented, and He'll continue to grow. Kasia Smutniak is solid and
unpredictable in her role, with a great twist about her character I
    didn't see coming.

Bottom line. Is it original? Hell no as I emphatically stated. Is it
entertaining? Yes it is. And for that alone, I give it a decent
    recommendation.

    6 ½ /10

    Paris gets no love

I was excited to hear that director Pierre Morel and writer Luc Besson
were teaming up again to create another action thriller. After they
created "Taken", which I thought was amazing, I thought they could do
no wrong. Well, with "From Paris with Love" they did a little wrong.
    Just a little.

"From Paris with Love" may not have the same finesse and grace of
"Taken", but one thing it does have is non-stop action. And when I say
non-stop, I mean not 10 minutes ever goes by without someone getting
shot at. There isn't a slow spot in the movie. Just when you think the
movie is about to slow down and take a breather…BAM! Someone says the
wrong word at family dinner and gets shot in the head. "From Paris with
Love" is pure testosterone from beginning to end.
